Become a Peer Support Specialist

Peer Support Specialists are a critical resource in the mental health and substance use recovery process. 

NAMI Juneau is pleased to be able to offer in-person Peer Support Specialist trainings programs right here in Juneau. 

If you are interested in receiving information about our next Peer Support Specialist training, please complete the interest form below. 

Please note: This certification is available to anyone in recovery from substance use or mental illness. 

 

The process to become a Peer Support Specialist is as follows:

  • Attend 5 days of in-person classes from 9am-5pm, date and location to be determined. 

  • Watch 10 hours of self-directed videos

  • Submit an application to the State after completion of the course.  We will pay for the application fee and help you with your application.  

  • Receive assistance applying for employment

 

Please note that we may be able to offer a stipend for individuals who complete the certification process.
